Hannah - Policewoman
I first came across Roger on Instagram and saw a reel about women and shiftwork. I was doomscrolling at the time whilst laying on the couch at night before bed. I had put my daughter to sleep and needed some “me time” as being a single parent working for the QPS, does not afford that very often.
My mental health was in a low period, one of the lowest I had had in a long time and I had been separated from my ex-husband for just over 12 months. Roger’s reel about understanding women’s health (physical and mental) and shiftwork felt like he was talking directly to me. I immediately followed him on social media and watched all his reels and read about him on his website.
I was very curious about his personal 1:1 coaching; however, my mental health returned to average and I talked myself out of needing it.
Less than a week later, I hit another very low period and struggled to get off the couch in between working and being a mum. I knew I had extended leave coming up over the Christmas/New Year period and was terrified I would waste it away with my low mental health. I realised that if I did not reach out for help, nothing was going to get better on its own. I booked an appointment with Roger and from the moment he popped on screen and listened to me, made me feel normal and completely understood how messed up I felt, I instantly knew I had done the best thing for myself and knew I would commit to his coaching within the first 15 minutes of our call.
Roger’s knowledge of women’s health, the effects of shiftwork and how to set simple easy tasks to make yourself a better person is unrivalled. There has not been a single moment throughout our sessions where I felt he has not understood me or what I am feeling. He has set me small, but very achievable, tasks for each day that within a week of being consistent at, I could already feel big improvements to my physical and mental health. The fact that Roger has personal experience as a shift worker and as a police officer has allowed me to be honest in every call and he is able to genuinely empathise with me, and remind me of the important things in life.
The biggest impact that Roger has had on me is the massive difference I feel with my mental health. Gone are the very high and very low periods, but rather I feel consistent with my mood and I am genuinely feeling the happiest I have been in over 6 years. This is being reflected both within my personal and professional life, and is allowing me to build the strongest relationship with my daughter and give her the best of me that she deserves.
If you are a female, working as a shift worker in your industry, you need Roger in your life. I wish I had him when I joined the QPS 13 years ago to start me off on the best possible foot in this career and my life, however I am so grateful I have him now and I look forward to working with him for as long as I can. This has been the best investment I have made in my health in a decade.
